The Olivetti Historical Archives’ central office is in Villa Casana, a famous mansion surrounded by green huge park of Montefiorito, next to downtown Ivrea.
The Archive was born in 1986 on the initiative of doc. Paolo Mancinelli, Olivetti secretary-general. Between 1987 and 1994 it developed thanks to the work of Mr. Giovanni Maggia.
The Archive officially opened in 1998. A lot of different companies decided to join in the initiative: the city of Ivrea, the Politecnico University of Turin, San Paolo Bank, the Adriano Olivetti Foundation.
At Villa Casana a lot of people work to keep, find and record documents and products that are bound to Olivetti in some ways.
The Archive usually organizes a lot of happenings and exhibitions, to make people aware of what the Archive is doing.
The Archive is run by the Association of the Olivetti Historical Archives. Its President is Bruno Lamborghini; the Vice-president is Emilio Torri; and the Head Manager is Eugenio Pacchioli. There are a lot of consultants, too.
In 1998, the Olivetti Historical Archives has been proclaimed “a structure with a huge historical interest” by the Archivistic Supervision of Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta. |
